Project
BMS & Chiller Modification in MLC-MEA Learning Centre ADNOC
Supply, Installation and Testing and commissioning of VFD 4 KW
About this project
The MLC and MEA learning centre required its building management system extended and its chiller control modified. Almafor delivered both as a specialist subcontractor to Schlumberger Technical Services.
Taking the BMS and the chiller together is the honest way to approach building energy work. Chilled water plant is where the consumption sits in a building of this kind, and it is also where the most accessible savings hide. Plant is commonly commissioned to a design condition and then left there for years, running at a fixed set point against a load that varies by hour and by season.
Modifying the chiller control so that it tracks the actual load, and giving the operator visibility of what it is doing, is a smaller job than replacing equipment and usually returns more. Scope included the control modification and the cable works to support it.
The lesson generalises across our building work. When a client asks for a building management system because the energy bill is high, the answer is rarely more sensors. It is usually the chiller.
