Al Tala Board Manufacturing operates a plant at KIZAD, and Almafor delivered its centralised energy and water metering and monitoring system for Estidama compliance.

In a manufacturing plant the metering question is different from an office building. Consumption is dominated by process equipment rather than by comfort systems, and the useful breakdown follows the production line rather than the floor plan. Metering at the incomer tells an owner what the plant cost. Metering by system tells them which part of the plant to look at.

Scope covered both energy and water, brought back to a central point and recorded, so that consumption can be reported rather than estimated and a change in the pattern can be investigated while it is still small.

Water metering is the part more often left out, and on an industrial site it is frequently where the unexplained consumption sits. A leak on a buried service can run for months inside the noise of a plant's total usage unless the usage is broken down.
